Jubilee Inspired High Street Hunt

The Queen's Jubilee (just in case you hadn't heard..) is this coming Sunday and as well as an amazing long weekend (thanks Queenie!) our high street is bursting with Jubilee goodies to fill your wardrobe! Now, I'm not normally one to be patriotic, but seeing as the Lady of the moment is giving us working folk a few days off, I'm thinking it's rude not to dedicate a blog post to a few high street spots I've found on my shopping travels!

Queue kitsch home ware accessories, British-branded clobber and your very own miniature Queen! You have to love been British sometimes....

Bralet - check. Union Jack - check. Topshop- check. All you need is distressed boyfriend jeans and your converse - not very Royal but still very British!

Bralet
Topshop
£12
Wear ones patriotism through this cool cloth bag with a vintage-effect print. 'Totes'-amazing...
Tote Bag
Republic
£8
I need this teapot cosy in my life! I don't drink tea nor do I own a tea pot but hey, it could always sit on top of the loo roll, right?! It's way too cute not to be tempted; I bet the Queen has one!

Tea Cosy
Debenhams
£12
It's kind of so wrong it's right that's why I've added this Union Jack print maxi from George at Asda to my list. Maybe my fashion sense was partly distracted by the fruit and veg section in the supermarket but I still kinda love it...!
Maxi Dress
George at Asda
£18
Kitsch jewellery is so adorable and I simply think this crown charm on a gold chain by Vioella is seriously cute...

Can't get down to London Bridge on Sunday? Grab your very own version of the Lady herself thanks to Urban Outfitters who have created this miniature version - wind her up and she does the iconic royal wave! Amazing!

Pay Day High Street Picks...

Finally Pay Day has arrived and what better way to celebrate than with a good shopping spree! (I mean, come on, we all thoroughly deserve it...) For those who follow me on Twitter, you will know I am on the countdown to Ibiza at the end of June so this months wages will (or should!) be spent on holiday must-haves. Hunting the high street this week, I seem to be drawn to anything black, white and a little bit grungey! Whether I'm simply rebelling against the glorious weather or releasing my inner rock chick ready for the month's festivals (Hackney Weekend and Lovebox anyone?!) here are my Pay Day Picks; prepare for a dark one!

With the Queen's Jubilee this weekend the shops are full of British-inspired pieces! But forget the Spice Girl Union Jack dress - I'm all for a bit of controversy! That's why I LOVE this tee from www.punkrockshop.co.uk repeating the classic Sex Pistols "God Save the Queen" record cover!

Tee
www.punkrockshop.co.uk
£15.99

I have still yet to find a bikini for Ibiza! I'm not one for spending £30 plus on just the top and paying for the bottoms separately (WHY does the high street do this?!) but when George at Asda does one so cute and cheap, who am I to say no!? It's officially added to the Ibiza shopping list!
Bikini Top
George at Asda
£2.50

Bikini Bottoms
George at Asda
£2.50

I had never really heard of Miss Guided until Lara Lain from Look magazine introduced me to the brand via Twitter! (Follow her here) I saw her wearing a similar pair of trousers to a fashion event and just HAD to know where they were from! Cool, eh? I'll be teaming mine with a rock n roll tee! Peace!

Peace Print Leggings
www.missguided.co.uk
£9.99

Following on with the rock/grunge trend I seem to be channelling (summer, who?!) I need this tee from H&M in my life! Sporting the logos of one of the greatest rock albums ever - need I say any more?
Graphic Tee
H&M
£9.99

Animal print is slowly becoming a bit of an obsession for me at the moment no thanks to Warehouse and their iconic printed pieces! I like how this dress has a lovely feminine shape which is still sexy with an edge. I'll be adding red lips when I wear mine...

Animal Print Halter Dress
Warehouse
£40

And just to prove I'm not all dark and dingy for the summer season, I've added this lush kimono from River Island with a lovely bright floral print! Perfect for a pre-lunch cover up for Ibiza, right? Add it to your summer wishlist now! I just have...

Maydaze Clothing Curiosity Show 24th May 2012...

What do you get if you mix the eclectics of Brick Lane, with an uber cool venue; throw in a DJ spinning the latest tracks from the underground music scene and then showcase some incredible independent fashion? You get the Maydaze Clothing Curiosity Show of course!

Showcasing fashion from the very best in local talent, expect to be adding more than one item to your wardrobe wish list on Thursday evening! And with the summer weather seemingly getting off to a rather hot start this week, why not have a sneak preview of what's to be expected from some of the brands strutting their stuff on the catwalk on the evening itself?

Here's what I'm adding to my summer essentials from Dolly Dare, Artisan S, Twinne, Harnett and Pope, Aimee Du plus London Loves LA.

Did that sneak-preview of what to expect at the fashion show wet your style taste buds? If so, then make sure you come down to Cafe 1001 just off Brick Lane East London (nearest tube station is Liverpool Street). As well as fashion, expect pumping music, an awesome atmosphere courtesy of Cafe 1001 and a few beers along the way too!

See you there!

Brick Lane Fashion Show: Curiosity Shop

If you live in London then you will know that Brick Lane is one of the go-to places for the alternative fashion-savvy. With a range of independent boutiques stocking vintage and retro clothing through to cool underground bars to hang out in after a day of shopping, not to mention the infamous Brick Lane and Spitalfield market, the area is abuzz with the hottest in upcoming fashion and culture within London.

Cafe 1001, Brick Lane

So when Cafe 1001 decided to host a fashion show featuring independent designers and businesses local to the East End, it was obvious that the idea would be an amazing success. The neighbouring designer's where quick to get in on the opportunity to showcase their individual collections and thus the Curiosity Shop Fashion Show was created. Expect to be dazzled by sensational dresses from Dolly Dare, artistic tees from Twinne and feminine seasonal pieces by Bill and Mar to name but a few.

Interested? You should be! Taking place at Café 1001, Dray Walk on Thursday 24th May 2012 this is your chance to add some quirky and unusual pieces to your wardrobe for the upcoming season that simply just aren't available from the high street. Support your local and independent businesses and come down to the free event! Music will be on from 7pm and the show is due to start at 8pm.

Hope to see you there

Cheryl Cole: Call My Name Music Video Style

I am not particularly a Cheryl Cole fan (oops, correction: just "Cheryl" as she is now being referred to!) but I must admit I cannot get enough of her new single Call My Name. Whether it's the dancing, the edgy video or just the tune itself, it is the song that is currently on 'repeat' on my playlist.

And having criticised Cheryl's fashion choices in the past, I also have to admit I am loving what she has worn in the music video! Hoping she has either sacked her previous stylist or they have just finally seen sense, Cheryl has made a comeback with a much more urban, street style and she looks amazing!

Whilst the original pieces are from the likes of Altuzura, Dolce and Gabanna and Brian Atwood, luckily for us the British High Street has some fail-safe pieces so you can get the Cheryl look too! Now all you need is a few hot backing dancers and a deserted dirt track to complete the Call My Name look!

Happy Shopping!
