High Street Picks...

Whether you got paid just before the Bank Holiday weekend (lucky you!) or your due your earnings this week, it's the perfect excuse to check out my picks of the AW12 drops on the high street! From vintage inspired tapestry through to quirky footwear, you're going to be spoilt for choice. I heart the British high street - temptation in every store!

Tapestry Dress
Warehouse
£65
How adorable is this Tapestry Dress from Warehouse? Truly inspired by cute 50's vintage dresses, this would look perfect with tan ankle boots and mini satchel handbag.

Peplum Top
Warehouse
£40
An update on the season's ultimate shape 'the peplum', Warehouse update theirs for the new season by adding some key studs and embellishment at a flattering position on the hips.

The Who Tee
Forever 21
£12.75

After a truly awesome performance at this year's London Olympics Closing Party, The Who are slowly but surely appearing on cropped tees and jersey tops across the high street. Snap this one up for just £12.75 from Forever21 to get in on the action early!
Drummer Boy Trainers
Topshop
£75
Following on from the Olympic trend are these amazing Drummer Boy athletic sneaker wedges from Topshop. I could see these on the likes of Rihanna or Rita Ora - adding a boyish twist to an LBD or funking up a staple blazer and jeans combo...
Cross Tee
Label Lab, House of Fraser
£25
Whilst crosses and other religious icons continue to decorate our high street stores, House of Fraser's sub brand Label Lab have decided to paint their Autumn collection in the cult trend too. Wear with converse and distressed denim to complete the look.

The Vaccines Tee
Miss Selfridge
£12
I am obsessed with The Vaccines at the moment so imagine my delight when I came across this ultra cool tee from Miss Selfridge with the band's new album cover. Perfect to team with a leather jacket - rock out!

Faux Leather Jacket
H&M
£29.99

Leather jackets are a must-have wardrobe staple, but with genuine leather ones being so expensive (although very worth it!) I've been in search of a faux one that still replicates the same look. H&M have an amazing collection and I especially love the colour of this jacket for just £29.99 (also available in black). Try it with some grey animal printed jeans like me!

What are you buying from the high street this month?

Ibiza Style: Tie Dye...

Following on from yesterdays Ibiza theme, another hot trend spotted on the sandy shores was 'tie dye'. Think late 60's early 70's hippy style influences where psychedelic art, ikat patterns and batik prints took centre stage. Bring the infamous dye forward 40 years into the 20th Century and you get the coolest girls chilling out in flowing maxi dresses, ripped up tees and ombre silk shirts around the sunset strip in Ibiza! Here are a few pieces to get you into the hippy mood ready for your holiday!

Ibiza Style: Who Likes Short Shorts...?

After an amazing two weeks away from my working life in London, I am now officially back and raring to get going on my blog again. I admit, I have been abandoning my blog posts of late, but after a much needed R&R session I am fully motivated and inspired...

This weeks posts will see a major focus around Ibiza! After just returning from a holiday in one of the party capitals, I am all about sun, sea, sand and of course STYLE! The biggest trend I witnessed out there (sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad!) where girls in short shorts - and I mean SHORT shorts. I think I saw more bums than Bacardi breezers out there. So where can you get yours from? See my hot high street picks and advice on how to style them!

Not exactly one of the most popular trends seen in Ibiza this summer, but the girls sporting the grungey look where totally rocking it! These dip-dye shorts from Topshop are great paired with a graphic tee or cut-up vest...

Try this rock idol Led Zeppelin tee; turn up the sleeves and tie the front for a relaxed, beach side look.

Cheryl Cole: Call My Name Music Video Style

I am not particularly a Cheryl Cole fan (oops, correction: just "Cheryl" as she is now being referred to!) but I must admit I cannot get enough of her new single Call My Name. Whether it's the dancing, the edgy video or just the tune itself, it is the song that is currently on 'repeat' on my playlist.

And having criticised Cheryl's fashion choices in the past, I also have to admit I am loving what she has worn in the music video! Hoping she has either sacked her previous stylist or they have just finally seen sense, Cheryl has made a comeback with a much more urban, street style and she looks amazing!

Whilst the original pieces are from the likes of Altuzura, Dolce and Gabanna and Brian Atwood, luckily for us the British High Street has some fail-safe pieces so you can get the Cheryl look too! Now all you need is a few hot backing dancers and a deserted dirt track to complete the Call My Name look!

Happy Shopping!

Highstreet Pyjama Drama..!

Rihanna and Cheryl Cole have been totally rocking the 'pyjama-style-trouser' trend for the Spring Summer '12 season. Silky soft textures, ikat prints and vivid bold colours have been just some of the replica pieces seen currently out on the highstreet and today I even braved the trend myself in a pair from Warehouse! Mixed reactions and a few stares (YES; even in London!) but I was way too comfortable to care - maybe even a little too comfortable as after work I was ready to hit the sack as opposed to venturing out!

So if you want total style comfort and to make a huge statement in the season's hottest print statement, the PJ trouser is for you! Keep it patterned and team with a structured top or blazer to balance out your shape for a flattering form.

3 Trends, 3 Retailers, 300 Wish Lists...

In fashion, we all have the "what's next" attitude. We want the future now. We want what's going to be hot (or cool, should I say?) for Autumn/Winter 2012 already. Ok, maybe that is a tad over board on the whole 'fashion forward' front. But even I was shocked to see that Topshop and River Island are already plugging their bikini's online. "Swimming costumes in January?" I hear you cry; that's what I thought too. After all, we have all just nicely dug out our winter coats and started wrapping up on the morning commute to work (Global Warming alert, anyone?).

But now that Christmas has been and gone, we all have to admit that we drift off into a little day dream now and again of what summer will actually feel like; we all do a little internet shopping during our lunch break (ahem..!) picking and choosing between the best of the high street lookbooks. But what and who is really going to be massively on trend this summer (yes THIS summer, not next summer you eager people!) So with three trends in mind, I took to the online shops to see which high street retailer was getting a fashionable gold medal for the upcoming season (like I'd actually venture outside in this weather, brrrr!)

Ah trust River Island to feed our feastable eyes on delectable prints and patterns for Spring 2012. I am in love with the tropical print trousers - funky or what, eh? When it comes to styling, you can't go wrong with a bit of print clashing, especially in Summer when it can be difficult to accessorise outfits due to the unbearable heat (well, maybe if you venture abroad, not so much in England...). Inspired by the likes of Peter Pilotto and Mary Katrantzou who clashed prints like there was no tomorrow on their SS12 catwalks, River Island dabble in colour to bring their collection to life. Fashion glossies are going to love styling shoots with this product, fashionistas are going to love making a statement with the River Island bold prints and customers will probably wander around their stores thinking "Dare I? Dare I?!" Well, dare away - the River Island tropical print is going to be huge!!

As I write this, I have good old Olivia Newton John's 'Lets get physical' whirring around in my head. But don't worry girls, we don't actually have to get up and exercise - oh no! Thanks to the Olympics coming to London this 2012, fashion has been inspired by all things sporty. Forget, Puma, Donnay and Kappa (does that brand even exist anymore?!) this trend is all about Miss Selfridge. Think industrial zips embellishing low slung bottoms, colour block body con dresses to show off that stunning figure and not forgetting the bowler bag to accessorise any sport-inspired look. It's football without the running, rugby without the catching and tennis without the serving -- LOVE.

Summer would not be Summer without ultra feminine frills and florals. And trust Topshop to go all out on the trend just as the new year begins. I need the vintage rose tank top in my life (but maybe after a few more stomach crunches...) and the little lace knit jumper has my name on it! Be inspired by 50' s styling in a lace sundress complete with net underskirt. Pair a lightweight knit with applique detail shorts and mix up feminine textures such as silk and chiffon for all over luxe. It's sugar meets spice in a girly anecdote for SS12....
